Finding a Partner in Times of The Coronavirus: Is it Possible?

This confinement affects us all, but singles even more. If that is your marital status, surely you will be longing to find someone special to fall in love with, share the long hours of confinement that await us and, why not?: Your whole life. But, if finding a partner before was already an art, you ask yourself: how can I do it practicing social distancing and without leaving my house? The coronavirus has even changed the way of dating, but that does not mean it is impossible. Let’s see how love can beat SARS-CoV-2.

Where to look?

Online dating sites like Match.com, eHarmony and EliteSingles are growing in popularity lately and as more people are searching for their better half on the internet, there is a greater chance that you will find someone who will like you. So give them a try and sign up. Right now, these sites are preferable to apps like Tinder that are more location- and encounter-based – things to avoid for now. You can also actively participate in forums on a topic that you are passionate about (cinema, music, your profession, etc.), where you will share with people who have the same interests as you. Remember that first of all you have to maintain security. Just as there are honest people online, there are also those with bad intentions, so don’t share too personal information until you are sure you can trust them.

How to Get to Know Each Other Better?

In these cases the ideal is always to go little by little. They can communicate through emails and chats at first, and then move on to something more personal like phone calls or video conferences. Thanks to technology, you can have a romantic date and even watch a movie together (each at home and comment on it) with apps like Netflix Party, Gaze or Kast. In the same way that it happens with couples who first meet in person, the important thing is not to force anything and to let the relationship flow naturally. If that person is for you, you won’t have to do anything special to attract them, just be yourself. Of course, it always helps to dress up a bit; do not neglect by the fact of being at home, make up, comb your hair, use colors that favor you and good natural lighting when they are seen on video.

Should You Wait for the Pandemic to be Over to Meet in Person?

We do not know when the pandemic will end and it will be safe to come out again. Waiting until the coronavirus passes or seeing each other sooner will be a decision that they will have to make by mutual agreement, depending on how fast the relationship goes. In the event that you decide to meet, I can only recommend that to take the biosefaty measures that we all already know: outdoors, distance of at least one meter, use of face masks, frequent hand washing. It will not be the most romantic situation in the world, but if you are with someone you like, you will enjoy their company in any circumstance. After the coronavirus, there will be plenty of time for kisses, hugs and more physical contact. In fact, that forced waiting can increase the expectation and interest in the relationship (I leave you wih that information)
